Well done Team SJB!

Well done Team SJB!

A fabulous collection of model Anglo-Saxon buildings, made mainly at home by our Year 4 pupils. Collectively we found ourselves with quite a village, not so different from the real one at West Stow. Thank you to all parents and carers who helped their children to achieve such a high standard for this model-making project. Some pupils went the extra mile and made a special feature of the animals… especially the hedgehogs, pigs and hamsters.

We took our houses outside, assembled them first as a closely-knit village and then a more spread out one. Children from other classes were really impressed and really enjoyed looking into things (literally!) Thank you to our visitors, who treated all the models respectfully.

Some Year 4s made a life-size Anglo-Saxon style play den too.

Thank you to our visiting potter, Mr Hill, who showed Year 4 children how to make Anglo-Saxon masks, like the famous one discovered at Sutton Hoo.

Year 4 children also made their own Anglo-Saxon style brooches and used these to create relief prints.

Thank you Jack for sharing out your wonderful Anglo-Saxon bread, butter and honey cake. Delicious!

And finally, here comes our splendid array of hedgehogs! Thank you again to all those who were involved with creating all these fabulous and loveable ‘hedgies’.
The children played 5 games last Friday.
They won all of them and played very well.

Well done to our SJB team.
Many children were competing for the first time and did themselves proud.

We had a challenging afternoon figuring out how to build a tower from card and paper. It had to be at least 50cm tall and hold a load of at least 3 books. Not everyone was successful, but we had a lot of fun trying!

Yes, we visited The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, cruised on Windermere, visited the Lakes Aquarium and rode on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway.
Amazing what you can achieve in a day!

Year 6 answered questions about Islam better than any other school that has visited.
You may quote Team SJB on that!
Well done Year 6!
