Year 1 Science

Today we have found out that animals that eat plants are herbivores. Animals that eat meat are carnivores and animals that eat both are omnivores! We designed a meal on paper plates for a carnivore, omnivore and herbivore. 🍃🌺🍗🦔🐇🐕‍🦺

Year 5 Ancient Greek Day!

In Year 5 we have had a brilliant time learning about the Ancient Greeks and reading Who let the gods out by Max Evans.
To celebrate the end of the topic we had an Ancient Greek themed day. We all dressed up in robes, we had a feast trying Greek food ( we were not too keen on olives as you’ll see by the photos!), painted vases and competed in the Olympics for our city-states.
In the Olympics we took part in the traditional sports of foot races, javelin, discus and long jump. Delphi was our winning city-state!

Sticky stuff

In Nursery, we have been looking at how materials change so today we melted marshmallows and then added washing up liquid. The result? A sticky mess but lots of fun! It got so sticky, it even glued the spoon to Mathilda’s hand. 😀

Year 2 History

Year 2 have been looking at ‘Our Local Area’ in History over the last two weeks. We have been studying Sir John Barrow, The Sir John Barrow monument and today we looked at the history of Sir John Barrow School. The children were very keen to know if any of their parents had come to SJB (or Lightburn School as it was called in the past). Our next lesson is on Stan Laurel who was born on the same street as SJB School.
