Reception tomorrow

This week year 1 have learned how to code and create algorithms in Scratch Junior. They found out how to change backgrounds, change sprites and use the various commands. They ended the week by planning and designing their own space race program.

.
Well done to the Green Team for their winning total today!
We had some ridiculously close finishes. Kaiden and Nathan from Year 3 were practically level for the Y3 100m. Maddie and Noah were literally level on the finish line. 2 gold medal are now required!!!
Charlie earned the red team 34 points. Superb effort!
Well done to all of you! KS1 are next.

The eco committee celebrated the arrival of an extra bin in the playground this week. They had all written a letter to Mrs Pearson asking for a second bin in the playground as a way to combat the amount of rubbish there. The children in the eco club have done several litter picks and hope that as the extra bin reduces how far children need to walk to dispose of their waste that less will be dropped. The eco committee have also designed posters that are displayed around school to remind everyone of the importance of not dropping litter.
They have also been busy making more posters. This time they are for representatives from the school to take to an Eco Day that UVHS is hosting for local primary schools. Our children are looking forward to sharing all the great things they’ve achieved since we were able to restart the eco club in March this year.

Yesterday our Royal Navy mentors visited our garden to see the our ‘pollination progress’. We were also able to bring them up to date with the success of our second plant sale.

Today, Kim and Jill from Ulverston in Bloom came to share their gardening expertise with Year 6.

Thank you for the generous donations to the pollination garden and containers at the front of school.

Superb effort Year 5/6. We are very proud of you all!

A new and exciting change in teaching reading is happening at SJB. We are delighted to have some beautiful new books in school so your children can enjoy reading for pleasure. For more information, please see the email we sent out today.

Year 5 and 6 are currently being coached by players from Barrow Raiders.
We are really enjoying the sessions and we are looking forward to supporting Raiders in the July 24th game.
