Year 4 had a lovely time packing their ‘shoeboxes of hope’ for some of Europe’ poorest children. Thank you so much to all those who contributed to this appeal, which is very dear to our hearts.

Yet another busy week in Year 5!

We have been working on the properties of 3D shapes in Maths and then building them using nets. It was tricky but the children worked extremely hard!

In English we have been looking at the different poetry tools used in the Highwayman. The children spotted onomatopoeia, metaphors and repetition. They then changed the stanzas in the poem to create their own version of the Highwayman.

Wee had lots of fun acting out the poem Danegeld by Rudyard Kipling in History. We definitely have some very scary vikings!

On Saturday several Year 6 children represented SJB at the Ulverstem event at UVHS. They shared their science knowledge of light. Lots and lots of people visited our table and had fun making shadow puppets.

We had many compliments about our lovely pupils. Thank you for giving up your time and doing such a good job.

To our Year 6 librarians. They read stories and run book groups for the younger children.

We had a brilliant but wet time at Brockhole today! We used four figure grid references to navigate the park. The children did a fabulous job and successfully followed the trail using the grid references!

Year 4 had great fun last week learning to cook home-made pizza, mini bread rolls and home-made soup. We learned that when preparing these things ourselves, we can regulate the amount of sugar, salt and other additives in the food. Now we really know what we’re eating: healthier and tasty too. Yum yum!

Some members of the Eco Committee visited Little Hoad to plant some daffodil bulbs around our SJB tree. The rough ground made it hard work but the children worked with determination to get the job done. Well done everyone and thanks to Rebecca and Mrs Allan for helping.

We sent another team of runners to Furness Academy yesterday.

They all set themselves a time to beat in the summer.

We continue to have lots of success in running. We had 2 more winners yesterday as well as 6 top 10 places.

Well done to all of our runners especially those going for the first time.
