Year 4 Anglo-Saxon Village

Well done to all our Year 4 model makers and parents/carers who helped the children make these wonderful models of Anglo-Saxon buildings. So much effort was made by so many people to make this project a success. Thank you. Model pupils indeed!

It was lovely to be able, at long last, to get out into a sunny playground to make our village.

Another magnificent cross country effort from SJB

We had 2 wins, 2 second places and 2 third places today at Chetwynde.

SUPERB SJB!

There were 400 runners taking part and SJB pupils all ran brilliantly.

We are very pleased there is another event coming up soon as we have so many keen runners in school.

Year 3 trip to Coniston Water!

Year 3 had a brilliant time today.

They were up against strong winds and heavy rain but they did themselves and SJB proud.

They canoed and used paddle boards on Coniston Water.

Their resilience should be commended as the conditions were not ideal.

Reading Evening

Thank you to everyone who came to join us at our Reading Evening. It was lovely to see so many family members come along to hear more about how to support their children on their reading journey.

If you have a child in Reception and you couldn’t make it to the event, Mrs Branton has offered to explain our reading system once again. She will be available straight after school on Monday 17th October.

Please do let us know if you would like to see more of these types of events which could cover any part of the curriculum. The more we can share together, the better the outcome for the children.

Year 4 Anglo-Saxon Claywork

Year 4 had a super time with Mr Hill, making Anglo-Saxon clay pots and masks, like the one found at Sutton Hoo. It’s harder than it looks to make a really good pot or mask without getting a bit dirty. Well done, Year 4. True Anglo-Saxons!

New bikes!

The new bikes have been a great hit. They are really challenging for the children to ride as they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Mindfulness in Reception

We have been doing a mindfulness session in Reception after lunch. It gets the children calm, focused and ready to learn after a busy playtime.
