In Year Five we are currently reading The Midnight Fox by Betsy Byers. We are thoroughly enjoying it.

In art we recreated the front cover of the book using pointillism painting techniques. We looked at the work of George Seurat and started to design our very own covers of The Midnight Fox.

Year 6 are learning about Ulverston in the Victorian era. We’ve talked about child labour and the workhouse. Next week we will learn about schooling and Victorian houses.

Year 2 have been learning about Paul Klee and used oil pastels to create their own piece of work.

This week in Year 1 we have been very busy!

We have read The Colour Monster and practised writing lists of what makes us happy.

We added two groups together and tested our friends.

We have learned about the different countries and capital cities in the UK. We have looked at maps, labelled the countries and coloured in different flags neatly.

As we all enjoy returning to school, we are delighted to learn that Trine, our sponsored sea turtle, has recovered enough to be returned to the wild. This has been made possible by the kind donations from SJB families who helped fund her recovery.

It’s all go in school today. We’re all looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. We have made some changes to the toilets. Each year group has its own toilet and sink. This reduces mixing between different classes. Don’t worry if you can’t see your class toilet; there’s definitely one for each group! See next post for Nursery.
