We love to read!

In assembly this morning we shared two new books. Some children in Y2 and Y3 are taking the new books and scrapbooks home. They will create a page that shows how much they enjoyed the book. I can’t wait to see their creations!

Once they’ve finished, the new books be available in the library for children to read. We will share two more books for the scrapbooks in a couple of weeks.

Year 4 and the Anglo-Saxons (and Hedgehogs)

A fabulous collection of model Anglo-Saxon buildings, made mainly at home by our Year 4 pupils. Collectively we found ourselves with quite a village, not so different from the real one at West Stow. Thank you to all parents and carers who helped their children to achieve such a high standard for this model-making project. Some pupils went the extra mile and made a special feature of the animals… especially the hedgehogs, pigs and hamsters.

We took our houses outside, assembled them first as a closely-knit village and then a more spread out one. Children from other classes were really impressed and really enjoyed looking into things (literally!) Thank you to our visitors, who treated all the models respectfully.

Some Year 4s made a life-size Anglo-Saxon style play den too.

Thank you to our visiting potter, Mr Hill, who showed Year 4 children how to make Anglo-Saxon masks, like the famous one discovered at Sutton Hoo.

Year 4 children also made their own Anglo-Saxon style brooches and used these to create relief prints.

Thank you Jack for sharing out your wonderful Anglo-Saxon bread, butter and honey cake. Delicious!

And finally, here comes our splendid array of hedgehogs! Thank you again to all those who were involved with creating all these fabulous and loveable ‘hedgies’.
