The SJB Eco-Committee had a great afternoon at the Coronation Hall today. Amongst the numerous activities on offer we found out how to make compost, made a smoothie using our own energy and completed a quiz all about British wildlife.

12 of our swimmers were in action today at Barrow Pool. They all came back looking extremely pleased with themselves and we know we came second and first in a number of our heats. Results will be in soon.

Some lovely story videos that I came across as part of a project I am doing. There are three books aimed at different age groups. Listen to the stories with your little one and see some excellent examples of book talk too.

Mrs Fletcher
Year 2 were busy painting their clay dragon eyes following their designs on Friday. We will show you the finished pieces soon!

Year Five have had a brilliant day at UVHS! They got to try out lots of different lessons and see lots of our friends who go to secondary school. We are very excited for the future!
Year 2 have been busy designing their own dragon eyes in Art. Today we made one out of clay carefully following our design. We added different textures to our eyes using different clay tools.

The reception class took part in a tree planting event today to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It was organised by the town council and involved a number of other local schools, The Mayor of Ulverston and The Lord Lieutenant who is the Queen’s Cumbrian representative.
The reception class planted a tree in conjunction with our partner school in Ethiopia as part of the Connecting Classrooms Project. If you’d like to visit our tree and the others planted today it is on Little Hoad at the top of Chittery Lane.
Many thanks to all the adult helpers who walked with us today and a big well done to the reception class who were brilliant!

On Monday, year one went to the Parish Church to take part in Ulverston’s Big Sing event. We performed with other schools in the area. We sang songs from the Gingerbread man musical and performed with our boomwhackers singing Do re mi.
The children did a fantastic job and represented the school brilliantly!

A great evening of running at UVHS. We took 16 children and they all ran superbly.
We had 8 top 10 places and 2 brilliant wins.
Well done to all of you and thank you to Mr Quint and his UVHS ambassadors.
