Our eco committee did a great assembly this morning all about Fairtrade Fortnight. They talked about what fairtrade means and showed a video of a banana farmer and his family: https://vimeo.com/153362757

They also talked about the importance of buying Fairtrade products if you are able to.
Finally, they set everyone a challenge: How many Fairtrade products can you find in your cupboards at home? To spot them, just look for the logo.

Our athlete visited SJB today for an assembly about his life and experiences.
We then participated in some exercises in the hall with him.
Jamell was an engaging speaker and the children were keen to take part and ask questions.
Year 6 in particular found the section about nutrition relevant to their learning.
Thank you for visiting Jamell. It is important that the children see where hard work and determination can get them.

Thank you and well done to all those who helped to make World Book Day such a success at SJB. As you can see from these photographs, many of the costumes were especially impressive this year. If you look carefully you’ll see a new addition to our class – a Little Red someone-we-all-know! Many congratulations too to our reading competition winners – the standard of reading was especially high this year, so this was a really noteworthy achievement.

We raised just over £50 to go towards our new playground and a local charity – to be chosen by School Council.

As you are aware we had a visit from Ofsted this week. The inspection took place over two days on Wednesday and Thursday. We are not allowed to discuss any outcomes at this stage because all judgements are quality assured. We can, however, tell you that we are very pleased. We are proud of all our staff and children. The children spoke confidently about their learning and about being part of the school and Ulverston community. Today we celebrated with ice lollies on the playground – well done SJB.

When we first arrived, the girls got to practise their routines on floor mats. The Year 4s had a go on the vault while the older group practised on the mats.
Maddie said, “I am very nervous but excited at the same time!” All of the girls were nervous but they smashed their routines.
Once the girls had gotten into their leotards, we set off to the main hall. Lucy said, “ I hope I can impress the judges.”
The girls all performed their floor and vault routines. It was very nerve wracking but they all did amazingly well!
Thank you for your sport report Joni.
