Year 4 learnt all about how to make paper from first principles and used their newly-newly-aquired technological knowledge to make commemorative poppies for this year’s season of remembrance.

Congratulations to all Year 4 children (and parents/carers for helping too) for making such a super collection of models for our Anglo-Saxon village. It all looks very snug, doesn’t it? (Apparently they liked small and cosy dwellings rather than great stone halls.)

Year 4 really enjoyed professional potter, Mr Hill’s visit today. We made some super Anglo-Saxon masks like the one found at Sutton Hoo.

This half term Year 2 are focusing our learning on the Great Fire of London. Last half- term we learned about how the fire spread in History and made Lego houses to show how close the houses and streets were to each other. We have been writing in the past tense to describe the fire in English, begun emulating the fire through dance in PE and have started making a collage to show how London burned. Look at our fabulous work so far…

We had a fantastic afternoon listening to poetry performances and seeing the amazing creative writing of our children.

Our eco committee were joined by the mayor this morning to plant a birch tree commemorating the life of Queen Elizabeth II.

Well done to our dodgeball team who came out on top at the School Games event.

This completes a very successful couple of weeks of sport at SJB!
