Good Morning

What a lovely sunny day! We’re missing you all and thought like to see our timetable for school.

This might change a bit depending on the weather and who’s in school.

Good Afternoon

Hello everyone, first of all thank you for following government advice and staying at home. We are proud to be part of a huge effort to keep people safe and support our amazing NHS.

At school today, we practised spelling on IDL and we did this week’s CLIC test. We listened to some stories and played some games on the playground. We also painted some rainbows to put in the windows at school. We hope they will cheer up our neighbours.

I realise a few people have had difficulty getting onto IDL and I will have a look at that this evening and see if I can tick the right boxes.

Why not paint or colour your own rainbow tomorrow?

Farewell Mrs Parker and Sport Relief

We bid a very fond farewell to Mrs Parker today. Her contribution to sport at SJB has been invaluable and most of our children have been to swimming lessons or a sports competition with her.

We will be seeing Mrs Parker in school again with the rugby coaches from Barrow Raiders.

All the children have been in the hall today raising their pulses with fitness videos.

We have also been enjoying the sunshine with a mixture of sports on the playground.

Philosophy for Children in Reception Class

We have been learning about baby animals and their parents this week so, in our P4C session, we discussed the characteristics of a range of animals. They decided that a crocodile was probably the fiercest of all the animals because it has very sharp teeth. The children wondered which animals could be matched together. Some thought all the big cats could go together while others thought it would be good to pair up a big animal like a giraffe with a smaller animal like a kitten so the bigger one could look after the smaller one. Great thinking, Reception!

Planting beans and sketching plants

This week year 1 have been learning lots about plants. In English we started the week by finding out all the features of information texts. We then researched some fascinating facts about plants to help us write some information texts. One of our favourite facts was that plants are used in shampoos! Today, we have been superb scientists! We have each planted a bean plant. We have also learned the names of some wild and garden flowers. We then chose some flowers to carefully and precisely draw in our sketch books. Please take a look at some of our drawings.
