Very exciting today as a fire engine pulled up outside our school. They had come to visit the EYFS as part of our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic. The fire fighters explained what they do and then showed how they would get ready to tackle a fire. The children were enthralled and wanted to know all about how the equipment is used. Most excitingly, they got to have a turn spraying water with the fire hose. That is until the crew got a ‘shout’ and had to speed away before half the class got a turn. Never have Reception Class been so quiet and forlorn. They were very brave though and understood that when there is an emergency, the fire service have to speed to the rescue!
Thank you for a great visit, the children loved it!
