Year 3 began their Forest School training today.
We used bow saws to cut pieces of wood and to cut grooves. This will be a useful skill for when they make a mallet in Year 5.
They played the usual games around the playground and even had time to use their cut wood as batons in a relay race.
We then linked their work in class to Forest Schools and created volcanoes inside wooden picture frames. As usual, every single design was different and imaginations were certainly being used.
Tomorrow we are using sheath knives, doing a leaf investigation and lighting fires.
