Year 5 had a full day at South Lakes Safari Zoo on Monday. The weather was bitter but none of the children complained.
Our day started immediately with penguin feeding. Our parent helpers enjoyed this just as much as the kids.
We then had an unplanned but brilliant tour of the park looking at all the Big Cats. Gavin, our leader, was sure to point out individual habitats and was clearly passionate about his work and sustainability. Even those of us who thought we knew it all, still left having learnt something.
We then fed the giraffes and lemurs. The tongues never fail to amuse both pupil and teacher. We just had enough time to watch the tigers charge out of their hut and climb up their poles to eat.
The park went above and beyond for us today. A special thanks to Gavin and we will see you next year.
