More STEM for Year 5

Year 5 continued their STEM learning today. We were visited by Irene from the University of Lancaster and took part in a series of challenges about engineering.

We started by looking at what engineering is and then at some very famous engineers from history. We all enjoyed the paper challenge in the morning and learnt a very important lesson: the design may NOT work the first time.

Our final challenge was to design a way to supply relief aid in Nepal. This involved a pulley system and a large amount of team work. Every design was different and the success rate was variable.

Many thanks to Irene for visiting us today and all the resources you provided for us.
