Olympic Inspiration Day

Olympian Brendan Reilly visited SJB today and we all took part in Olympic style training sessions.

The former high jumper in the 1992 and 2000 Olympic Games began with a very entertaining presentation about his athletic journey and the ups and downs he faced along the way. A particularly memorable quote was, “I knocked the bar off 10,000 times and had to recover from each of those moments.”

The children then asked some very good questions with many asking him to attempt a jump in the hall!

Most classes had 20 minutes sessions in the hall with Brendan but Year 5 and 6 went outside to practice three key athletic skills: throwing, jumping and sprinting.

Many thanks to Brendan and Squad in Touch for organising the day. We all very much enjoyed it and many pupils told him about the sports they take part in.
