Happy Saint Patrick’s Day from EYFS!

IMG_0672.JPG

In Reception we have been learning about Ireland this week, ready for Saint Patrick’s Day today! We have been doing lots of activities for instance having a go at Irish dancing in P.E. One girl’s family in our class come from Ireland and she has her own dancing dress which she brought in to show us! We have also made soda bread (which was delicious!), learnt about leprechauns and learnt the story about the Giant’s Causeway with Finn McCool.

We love singing in Reception and this week we learnt the song ‘Molly Malone’. We were fascinated about her and liked seeing pictures of her statue in Dublin.

One thing we particularly enjoyed doing was learning to speak in Irish. We learnt to say hello (Dia dhuit) and goodbye (Slán) which we used all day!

We finished off the week by celebrating Saint Patrick’s day! We learnt all about Saint Patrick and how the day is celebrated in Ireland.

It’s been a fantastic week and sláinte from Reception!
