Year 5 went to Lancaster on Thursday to look around the University of Cumbria campus.
Although the weather was awful at times, this did not deter the children as they walked around the whole university campus. The children visited: the library, the UOC Halls of Residence, Café Martineau and two lecture theatres on their tour.
After eating lunch, the children took part in forensic science to work out which teacher had stolen a treasured sheep mascot. Among other things, a half eaten Jaffa cake was left at the scene of the crime. The boys were quick to point out that it couldn’t have been Mr Maher who stole the mascot (as he would have eaten the whole thing in one bite). VERY TRUE!
With the rain now turning to sleet, the children were given a certificate and a short graduation ceremony for completing their first day at university. As the skies turned as black as coal, we made our way home on a sodden M6.
Many thanks to the University of Cumbria for organising a great day out. It was very much appreciated.
