Book Week at SJB
The week of the 29th February to 4th March was Book Week at SJB.
We started with a reading competition. There were heats in each class and then a final performance on Thursday afternoon. All of the finalists did a fantastic job of reading their chosen story extract and the judges found it very difficult to make a decision. The lucky winners in infants were the Reception team and in juniors the team from 6D were judged to be the best. Very well done to everyone for taking part with such enthusiasm and to the audience for listening so well.
On Wednesday afternoon we opened our doors to parents and carers. As part of our book week each class was celebrating the life of Beatrix Potter and we invited families to come and listen to stories and draw some of Beatrix Potter’s famous characters.
Friday morning saw the Fancy Dress Assembly with more children than ever before dressed as their favourite characters. There were some amazingly creative costumes and great examples of team work. Finally on Friday afternoon we went on a Reading Safari. Groups of children travelled all over the school and listened to four stories in different venues.
Many, many thanks to the volunteers who supported us throughout book week. We could not have undertaken so many events without your help as judges and story tellers. Thank you also to parents and carers for helping the children create such marvellous costumes.
We can’t wait till next year!
